SA-MCC Premium Multiple Carbide Overlay Plate

Our SAS Global SureAlloy Multiple Complex Carbide overlay plate (SA-MCC) was developed to satisfy the various application needs of our customers. SA-MCC Overlays can be custom blended to provide material characteristics needed for specific wear resistivity. For example, if the application requires increased impact resistance and temperature rating, the blend of complex carbides would have higher levels of Molybdenum and Niobium.

Our SAS Global SureAlloy Multiple Complex Carbide overlay plate (SA-MCC) was developed to satisfy the various application needs of our customers.  SA-MCC Overlays can be custom blended to provide material characteristics needed for specific wear resistivity.  For example, if the application requires increased impact resistance and temperature rating, the blend of complex carbides would have higher levels of Molybdenum and Niobium.

Each specific blend of SA-MCC has its own specific numerical designation. This numerical designation is directly correlated to the percent of each carbide forming element found in the overlay.

These photomicrographs show electrolytically etched and dyed SA-MCC samples at both 100X and 500X. SA-MCC overlay derives its excellent properties from a combination of type MC, M2C, M7C3, and M6C carbides, which are composed of various amounts of Mo, W, V, Nb, and Cr. The formation of these carbides is controlled by SAS Global’s proprietary overlay process and metallurgical blend, which provide a balance of strength, toughness, and wear resistance.
